When Calculating Costs, Factor in These Things

The cost of chemicals. You'll likely spend about $30/month on chemicals.

The cost of equipment. You'll need a good test kit (we use a highly sensitive digital meter to avoid the subjectivity of cheaper color-change test kits.) You'll also need a net, a pool brush, and a vacuum if you don't already have those.

The cost of hiring for the more tedious or difficult tasks that you may not be up for doing yourself. These include:

  1. Annual filter service (which may be difficult or easy depending on the type of filter you have).
  2. Salt cell service (every 6 months)
  3. Occasional repairs (Glass Pool Co. offers prefered repair rates to our weekly customers)

The cost of mistakes. This is the most important one. When a pool is not balanced* correctly, you can get all kinds of problems ranging from eroding grout, corroding fixtures, staining, calcium buildup, reduced life expectancy of mechanical components and a pool that turns green or is simply not safe to swim in. The cost of a green pool clean up, which is arguably one of the less-expensive consequences of a poorly managed pool, is about $350.

what you should know about
hiring a pool service company?

As with all things in life, it's often true that you get what you pay for. If you're calling around, you'll find there's a range in prices. At PPH Pool Services we try to keep our prices as low as practical. You'll probably find we are in the middle of the price range.

Be wary of pool service companies that come in with suspiciously low quotes. These are usually owner-operators who may or may not know what they're doing, may or may not be licensed and insured and may or may not be in business a month or a year from now. They are unlikely to offer any kind of guarantee on their service and could very easily cost you more than they save you.

PPH Pool Services is fully licensed and insured. This is important for you as a home owner. We have stable, well-trained, CPO-certified technicians, so you'll have the same guy cleaning your pool every week. You'll get to know him and he'll know your pool.

Patrick (the owner of the company) performs all the mechanical repairs. He's highly qualified and always ensures that repairs are done right using only new warrantied parts.

We guarantee all our pool service & repairs.
